Vilnius University Šiauliai Academy hosted the 15th International Interdisciplinary Scientific Conference “The Region: History, Culture, Language”, bringing together Lithuanian and international scholars for meaningful academic discussions on region, history, culture, language, identity and diverse ways of knowing.
The conference participants were welcomed by Prof. Dr Vilmantė Pakalniškienė, Pro-Rector for Organizational Development and Community Affairs at Vilnius University, Prof. Dr Renata Bilbokaitė, Director of Vilnius University Šiauliai Academy, and Assoc. Prof. Dr Regina Kvašytė, Chairperson of the Conference Scientific Committee. The presentations of the plenary session addressed a wide range of topics, including the lexicographic study of local speech, neologisms in Lithuanian fiction, the preservation of the language in the context of a national minority, as well as positionality, epistemic justice and decolonial perspectives in the international classroom.
